Slayers fanbook cover contest: VOTING

Okay, final take. Here's how to vote.

1. Submit a vote either through the poll or via screened comment - this way non-members are able to participate. If you use the screened comment method, only one vote per I.P. address will be accepted to prevent ballot-box stuffing. The LJ poll has been screened so only I can who voted for what entry.

If you submit a regular comment to the post, I'll unscreen it right away for everyone to see. ^_^

2. If you participated, you may vote for yourself.

3. If it's suspected that sockpuppet accounts are being created to inflate the polls, the polling will stop. It's easy for us to determine if new accounts are being created for the purpose of inflating the ballot. This was a concern expressed by some of the participants. Long story short, if you're truly not a Slayers fan, please don't vote.

The voting will remain open until October 25 at midnight EST. After that, I'll announce the winner.

The projected date to have the complete fanbook done is still mid-November.

Enjoy and have fun voting!

These are really incredibly brilliant, but I fell in love with the first one's concept, with the flags and all.
But wah, good job everyone!
and let's stop with the voting fiasco it's ridiculous

I know what you mean. I loved the colors on some, the simplicity of others, the "book" appearance and texture on some of them, and the humor or references in others - it was so tough! I can honestly say I flipped a coin between my top two - there was just no other way to choose.

3 seems nice but it'd be better if it mentioned something about "20th".

The entries look even better in this size. :)
It was a close call between #1 and #6, as both work so well with the fanbook theme, but #1 won in the end because of the superior composition. Still, I am very happy that all of them will be in the fanbook regardless. ;)

Yeah, I actually had to go down to 500/1000px due to Photobucket from the 600/1200 I originally told you, but it's still not bad. ^_^

I love 'em all! But it was between #1 and #9.. I ended up going with #1. the tie breakers: it had a back & front plus the flags were an AWESOME idea.

Great job to everyone though!

Some people from the italian forum are voting, just ask and I'll confirm their identity of not-sock puppets :)

I was uncertain between #2 and #6, they had both good ideas
#6 really represents the fanart concept ^^ and the back cover could be a front cover on its own, while #2 has a good "western" style and has such a good composition ^_^

Will do. ^_^ All the I.P. addresses are recorded as well, so it's easy to screen out.

hmmm a couple of friends from the Slayers Unity forum created accounts just to vote for a cover : S this vote would be ok? they didn't know that they could vote by using their FB and Twitter account ToT

If they haven't already voted, encourage them to do so through the screened comments/FB/Twitter accounts, please.

Congrats to all the participants. Beautiful covers.

#5, #6 & #9 have the same typography? Well, it goes with Slayers but it's, let's say curious.

It's not too hard for people to find and download fonts online to use as they may. I know if I had entered something, I would have wanted to use a 'Slayers-esque' font as well, so it's not that unusual.

It's too bad that printing books with variant covers just isn't feasible. All of these covers have wonderful and unique strengths.

I spent about 10 minutes trying to decide between my favorite entries (1,2,3,6, and 8).
In the end I went with entry 6 because I like the clever "Convention Artists' Alley" theme and think it fits the spirit of the book really well (plus the back cover design with Lina and Gourry's accessories is really cool). But it was a really really REALLY hard call.

Entry #5 and Entry #6 are the most beautiful covers for me, anyway I choose Entry #6 *.* It's absolutely perfect, the characters are almost identical to the originals and that little Xelloss on the desk is so kawaiiiiiiiiiiii!!! <///3 I love it, congratulations to the artist, great job *O*

#3 for me, hands down. The texture is gorgeous and I love the typography on it. The back cover doesn't sit perfectly with me, but everything else about it is so elegant =D

Actually, yes, I do need to talk with you about that. We may have some issues here regarding the votes and I want to make sure these come from your forum before we do anything about them.

I have a question: Do the current standings include the anonymous comment votes?
(I'm not that familiar with the LJ voting system, so I'm not sure that such a modification can even be done by the poll starter.)

[info]dqbunny

October 23 2010, 19:47:25 UTC 1 year ago

No, the current standings just have those who voted via their LJ, Facebook or Twitter accounts. All of the anonymous votes are screened.
