Title: The Storm: Prologue: The Calm Before the Storm
Characters/Pairings: Lina/Gourry, Zelgadis, Luna
Ratings/Warnings: Discussions of death, violence
Plot: Lina feels compelled to join the fight against Shabranigdu again when her children befriend a girl who she believes is the reincarnation of the daughter she lost. Sequel to Behind the Portrait.
I'm pleasantly surprised that you're continuing this series. This story is my favorite of all the "Future Universes" that you created for the Slayers cast. So I'm REALLY excited to see where you take it now.
Bummer about Zel and Addie "taking a break" (are they gonna be your "Ross&Rachel"? LOL). I hope this isn't the last we hear of him in this story
Zephilia is lucky that raiding the guild and stealing their valuables was the worst thing Lina did on her way out (I was expecting worse). I think the only reason she didn't burn the place to the ground was because her parents were still there.
And it didn't surprise me that Lina desperately wanted another baby after losing a child (even though getting pregnant at fifty is not the smartest idea).
Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
I've had this idea kicking around for over a year, and the longer I've put it off the more it calls to me type thing. I really only banged it out yesterday but I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the prologue since I'd mulled over it for so long type thing. Anyway, glad to hear you're enthusiastic about this one!
You know, I'm probably the only one my age who has never seen Friends, but I still get the reference, lol (or at least I think I do). Zel will make an appearance.
And I think Lina was at some level mindful of the lessons that Luke's path towards revenge and self-destruction wrought and knew she couldn't risk not being there for her other kids. That said, she likely left a few unpleasant surprises for the town before she left.
And I think Lina being a powerful sorceress and likely having an extended lifespan helped her a bit with having a pregnancy at such a late age. Or at least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And yeah, I think I remember the epilogue! With Zel introducing Attie to Amelia? It was very funny, and it even fits with them stopping by Saillune!
This reminds me that I still have a half-finished epilogue for Behind the Portrait that I keep forgetting to sketch out (I think I showed it to you at the hotel in San Diego).
I'll have to get that cranked out soon. Luckily I made it a joke comic. So it wont matter if it clashes with the new continuation you're writing. LOL
